As a teaching practice, Unapologetically U is committed to providing our interns with a rich and diverse learning environment. Our team of experienced practitioners works closely with our interns to provide holistic, evidence-based care for our clients. We believe that by supporting and empowering our interns, we can create a positive impact on the mental health of our community. Meet our Interns:
T’Keya Isom is a Charlotte native pursuing her masters degree at Winthrop University. She is currently interning with Unapologetically U as she works to become a LCSW. She has a passion for mental health which led her to become a certified mental health aid and community health worker. As a former high school biology teacher, she saw the need for more support in the mental health field to help empower minority youth to see the potential for greatness within themselves. She understands the different perspectives of the world and how they can create barriers and challenges that we’d much rather not have to face. She hopes to empower everyone that she meets to embrace their experiences, understand their uniqueness, and be themselves unapologetically. She believes that we all hold a divine piece in this interconnecting web we call life. With every story we share a breakthrough is made.
Katherine is a first-generation college graduate student with her bachelor's in social work, and currently working on her Masters's degree in social work at Winthrop University. Katherine's goal is to become a licensed clinical social worker to sustain the opportunity towards her own private practice. Katherine has worked with several organizations within her field that has groomed and molded her into the professional she is today. She is eager to learn and excited to embark her difference in human and social services in her generation. Through this opportunity with Unapologetically U, Katherine is looking forward to growing professionally and mentally to strengthen herself towards other plans and goals in the future.
